With over six decades of experience in oil and natural gas exploration, Mr. Gray has played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of Alberta’s energy industry. As co-founder of Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd. in 1973, he led the company through nearly three decades of innovation and growth, culminating in its $3.4 billion acquisition by Burlington Resources in 2001.
But Jim Gray’s legacy extends far beyond boardrooms and drilling sites. He’s a passionate community builder, serving in roles such as Director Emeritus of the Calgary Academy, Honourary Chair of the Canada West Foundation, and Honourary Life Director of the Calgary YMCA. His leadership has also touched major organizations like Brookfield Asset Management, Canadian National Railway, and the Hudson’s Bay Company.
His accolades include:
