Maridel Lorenzo came to Canada in 2008 on a temporary foreign worker visa and Rhei Farjardo in 2014. They met working across the street from each other; Maridel worked at Red Basket and Rhei at McDonalds. In August this year, they took the plunge and took over ownership of Filmart.

Filmart RM is an Asian grocery store that carries Filipino specialty foods, does money transfers and cargo box shipments. The new owners hope to expand to other Asian foods.
